DOES MOMA REALLY KNOW BEST?
In the spring of 1997, Margit Rowell, a curator at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, organized a show called "Objects of Desire: the Modern Still Life." Our supporters sent her thousands of these cards urging her to change the title to "The Objects of MOMA's Desires are Still White Males." She never relented or added more women artists or male artists of color, but every art review of the exhibition noted her discriminating ways.
